While Exion is appropriate for the majority of patients, individuals with metallic devices such as pacemakers or implants should avoid it. Additionally, you should only receive Exion once any active acne or infections have subsided.
What to Expect From Exion Treatment
Step 1
When you first arrive at Smart Skin Med Spa in Hoover, we begin with a 30-minute complimentary consultation to go over your goals for treatment.
One of our experienced providers will review your medical history, examine your skin condition, and get to know you before making any recommendations. Patient success is our primary goal; therefore, we create individual treatment plans designed to meet each person’s goals and needs.
Step 2
If we decide you’re a good candidate for Exion, your provider will lead you back to a treatment room. Our team has taken care to ensure each space is clean and welcoming before you get there.
One of our Exion specialists will treat your skin, creating micro-injuries with the tiny needles of the applicator, and delivering radiofrequency energy through the Exion handpiece. This approach sends rejuvenating waves deep within the skin without using longer needles.
The micro-damage will alert your body’s immune responses and result in increased production of collagen and elastin. These vital proteins reinforce your skin’s structure, giving it a more smooth and youthful look.
Step 3
Following your Exion treatment, you might notice mild redness or swelling in the treatment area, but that should resolve quickly. We’ll have you come back for a few follow-up sessions in the coming months.
When your treatment series is done, we recommend returning for 1 or 2 yearly maintenance appointments.
Step 4
Wait to resume your normal skincare regimen and makeup routine until a Smart Skin Med Spa provider has cleared you to do so.
After the microneedling points heal, your skin will immediately feel smoother and look brighter, with ongoing improvements in texture and appearance over the coming weeks, resulting in healthier, more radiant skin long-term.
